Getting Full-Text

FullTextImageHere are some tips on getting the full-text of an article:

1. Look in the database that you are searching in. When you have found a citation you want, look for links marked Full-Text, PDF, PDF Full-Text, or HTML Full-text. Some citations will have them; some will not. If it does, click on that link to get the full-text version of your citation.  If it does not, see step 2.

2a. OUHSC users:

  • Click the OU-Tulsa Library’s E-Journals link to go to our electronic journals list.
  • Choose the “E-Journals Only” tab.
  • In the search box that’s labeled “Find,” type the title of the journal you’re trying to locate.
  • Choose the journal title from the list that appears.
  • Look at the years of coverage that are listed and click on the database that provides coverage of the journal for the year that is noted in your citation.
  • If the journal is not listed or the years of coverage do not provide the year from your citation, we do not have electronic access to the full-text version of the article.  See steps 3 and 4.

2b. OU-Norman users:

  • Go to the Bizzell Library webpage and log-in.
  • In the search box that’s labeled “Find,” click on “E-Journals” and type the title of the journal you’re trying to locate.

3. Look to see if the journal is on the shelves at the OU-Tulsa Library.  We have many journals in print. You can check the OU-Tulsa Library Catalog to see if we own a journal title.

4. If all else fails, use ILLIAD, our interlibrary loan service. It is free for OU-Tulsa students, faculty, and staff, and we deliver articles to you electronically.  We can generally deliver most articles within a week, and sometimes even sooner than that.
